Brian Joseph Grell
A golfing scrapbook

A digital copy of the family scrapbook recording Brian Grell’s golfing life — newspaper clippings, photographs, tournament results and club history preserved together so the original pages can be looked through again.

The scrapbook itself is the record. This page simply gives the family an easier way to sit down with it and turn the pages.

How to use it: scroll through the scrapbook below, or use the viewer controls to move between pages. For a larger view, choose Open full-screen.

A few milestones from the archive

The scrapbook spans decades. These are a handful of the dated achievements preserved in the source material; where surviving records disagree, the fuller archive keeps that uncertainty visible rather than smoothing it away.

1968

Member of the Trinidad and Tobago team that won the Hoerman Cup at Caymanas, Jamaica.

1969

Trinidad and Tobago retained the Hoerman Cup at Pointe-a-Pierre; Brian Grell and 17-year-old Alan Mew were joint low scorers.

1974

Captain of Trinidad and Tobago’s Hoerman Cup-winning team at Sandy Lane, Barbados.

1976

Made his 19th national-team appearance and captained Trinidad and Tobago to both the Hoerman Cup and Francis Steele-Perkins Trophy at St Andrews, Moka.

1993

Captained Trinidad and Tobago’s clean sweep of all four titles at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships at St Andrews, Moka.

2003

About the digitisation

Preserved first, interpreted second. In September 2026 the scrapbook was photographed, indexed page by page, transcribed and catalogued. AI was used to assist with transcription, cross-check names and dates, build a career chronology and surface conflicts between sources. The photographed scrapbook pages remain the primary evidence; family recollection and later interpretation are kept separate from what the documents themselves say.

Archive prepared by Shelley Grell with AI assistance. This family-facing page is part of the My-Edge.ai record of practical human–AI work.
